Some Wonderful Things in the Mail

Image
Another week has gone by. It's been busy here. Didn't get much stitching in because of having company over the week end and , of course, Stella. She has cut into my stitching time but happily so. Sorry about the really bad picture but it's late and the lighting is terrible. This is the April Word play. The fabric is much lighter than the picture shows. It is 36 ct.v. butter cream using the suggested GA fibers. I did finish the MA sampler and off to the framer it went before I took a picture. This is all framed up and I think that it came out pretty nice. Now on to the great stuff I received in the mail. I won the best giveaway from Jan from Tree of Life Samplings. Her generosity overwhelmed me. This were the packages in the box. I love the seals. I received two of her Emma Rose designs and the floss to do Emma Rose freedom. She included a wonderful thread holder by Liberty House. I do collect Liberty House products so this was a treat. She included 2 piece...

Great activity, the stitching....

The wind is starting to howl and the rain is heavy. Just the beginning of Sandy. We spent the day getting ready for the storm. Took in the patio furniture, potted plants and anything else that could go flying. Did some cooking ahead, in case we can't use the stove. Just hoping that trees don't come crashing down on the house. As for the stitching, I started something new. Day after my last post this wonderful design arrived in the mail. I couldn't wait to start it. It's a great stitch. I pick it up every spare moment I have. I thought I would show my Halloween tree with all the ornaments. I couldn't get a good picture inside so I took it outside yesterday for some shots. You can click on any picture for a larger view. It's starting to fill up in nicely. I will add more next year. This is the pillow that Vonna finished for me. I love it. It's Hilda's Alphabet Brew by With Thy Needle and Thread. I love Japanese Lanterns. I have a friend wh...

WIPs and Wonderful Stitchy Stuff!

Image
First up is my latest start, The Mighty Oak Sampler. I love this design and it's such a great stitch. The fabric is 30 ct weeks fabric called parchment. It's a yellow color with wonderful variation in color, not the color that the picture shows. I am using belle soie silks. I love the silks. They are a dream. There is quite a bit of over one stitching, which I love. All the words, letters and the little animals and birds are over one. How cute is that squirrel? And the birds. I have finished Spring and will be starting Summer next Wednesday at group. There are different specialty stitches in this one and they make it interesting. This sampler will be gorgeous when finished. I have already found a place to hang it. You can click on any of the pics for a larger view. I love all things stitchy related. I tried to resist this box but finally just gave in. It is so wonderful. The painting is perfect. I am going to keep my NPI silks in it. A wonderful addition ...

Nantucket and more

Image
It's been a wild couple of weeks in Eastern Massachusetts. The blizzard dumped over 2 feet of snow, left my area without power for 5 days and left a lot of devistation in her wake. I lost many trees in the back yard and two beautiful Christmas type pines in the front. Thankfully none of the trees fell on the house. This past week end we got another 6 inches of snow. I love snow but I have had enough for the year. On to the stitching, which is why we are all here. I went to the framers just before the blizzard and picked up Nantucket. I love this piece.      The frame is beautiful. Reminds me of drift wood. It isn't as blue as the picture would suggest. It's a gray blue color. Goes perfectly with the design. I have had many questions about the color of the house, yes I changed the color. I didn't have 2 of the called for color and changed it to King Mackerel by WDW and instead of the Barrel Cactus I used DMC 927. I like the changes.    Here are three o...

Baking and Stitching.

Image
Sammi would like to wish everyone and their pets a very Merry Christmas.   I started this the other day and I must say, that I am not enjoying it. Love the design but the colors are very close in their shades. It was very hard to pick a fabric that will allow all the colors to be seen.   Yesterday I decided to make bread by hand. This is Christmas Stollen . My braiding leaves alot to be desired, but it turned out delicious! It's full of fruit and nuts. I have a bread machine and use it a lot but I really enjoyed the kneading and rising and kneading again. It was very soothing. I will be taking a loaf over to Cheryl's for Christmas Eve. She has a yearly family gathering, which we have been going to for 20 years or so.   This is alittle sampling of the cookies we made on Tuesday. We have sugar cookies, hermits, applesauce cookies, peanut butter kiss cookies and orange brownie bites (which are to die for). I want to wish everyone a wonderful Ch...

Mighty Oak Sampler

Image
Another week has gone by. Where does the time go? It's just flying along. I finished Mighty Oak Sampler and just love it! It was so much fun to do. I did frog all the bottoms of the acorns because they were done in a limey green that I just didn't like. I went for the basic beige. Like them much better. Little squirrel over one. Love the kitty! So cute. Had August stretched and poped it into the frame that I am using for all the months. A close up of the lazt daisys . One is better that the other. Progress on the Wednesday SAL. Summer is started. Not a lot to show. Finished September by DT . Love this one. The leaves are beautiful and the panels on the door are cushioned stitched, very fun to do. I have started Boris by PSS but really haven't done enough to show. We have had a weather reprieve this past week. It has been pleasant with lower humidity. A nice change. Today is gray and we are going to have thunder storms. We do need the ...

Some Framing

Image
Before I had a little eye surgery, I picked up 2 pieces that needed framing. This is Autumn Basket by BBD. I did this in February of 2010. It was time to be framed. Please forgive all the darker pics. It's been raining all day. This picture is very long but the colors are beautiful. Below are 2 more pics that show it closer. The frame is a dark cranberry color. There were 2 pics there and now there is only one. I have no idea what I did. Sorry. This Breath of Autumn by Chessie and Me. I am loving her designs! Will be getting more. Loved all the specialty stitches. You can click on any of the pictures for larger views. A view of some of the over one stitching. I have used this frame before. It's very wide and rustic. I am slowly working on the Lord's Blessing. I really am enjoying this design. Love the basket. Thanks for all the comments on my last post. I appreciate the time you all take to read and comment on my blog. It means a lot. Until next time....Happy Stit...

Plaid House!

Image
Thanks for visiting my little part of the world. The comments you leave mean the so much to me. It was a busy week here in Southern MA. I finished Plaid House by LHN. I used the natural linen called for and I must say I don't really care it. The piece looks good but the fabric wasn't fun to work with. I started Christmastide at Holly House by The Scarlet House. Please excuse the lousy picture. I don't iron while stitching. This piece is beautiful but will take awhile to finish. The house is massive. I picked up 2 pieces from the framer. Ye Be Thankful by Cross Eyed Cricket. I used a plain black molding. I did this piece last year. It's from Just Cross Magazine. I know that Paulette from PSS designed it. I just love the whimsy of it. Thought I would show somee Halloween finishes from years past. They are all hanging currently. A close up of the molding I picked. I thought that I Thanks for hanging in with this picture heavy post. Until next time ......
